Cameron Park Lake Update - Aquatic Harvesting May 2026
Beginning today, May 28, 2026, Waterworks Aquatic Management will begin Aquatic Harvesting at the Cameron Park Lake, so if you are out at the lake today, give them a wave as they work to keep our lake healthy! They have provided us with the following information that may answer questions that may arise, but if you have any further questions, please feel free to contact the CSD.
• Waterworks Aquatic Management owns & operates an HM-420 & HM-220 Mechanical Aquatic Weed Harvester.
• These floating harvesters mechanically cut and remove surface vegetation that has over grown aquatic environments.
• This is a mechanical alternative to using pesticides or chemicals to remove nuisance or topped out weeds growing in lakes, ponds, lagoons, and waterways.
• The vegetation is reciprocated (cut) and pulled onto the harvester body via conveyers. The vegetation is conveyed off onto a trailer and removed. Most vegetation can be dried out and used as a high nitrate or phosphate load in gardens, farms, or other organic compositions.
• By removing the topped out vegetation, this mitigates algae growth as well as insect growth including midge flies, mosquitoe larvae, and other species that may use surface vegetation to lay their larvae in.
• Waterworks will focus on harvesting majority of the topped out vegetation before performing an annual treatment on the lake to create a healthy & aesthetically pleasing environment for both the aquatic life and residents who enjoy the ammenitites of the lake.
