June is here, and summer has officially arrived in Cameron Park! Longer days, warm evenings, and a calendar full of community fun make this one of the most exciting months of the year at the CSD. From the return of Cannonball Cinemas at the pool to a full lineup of youth summer camps, recreation programs, and preparations for our biggest event of the season—the Summer Spectacular—there’s something for every age, interest, and energy level. Whether you’re diving into the water, exploring our parks, or joining us for one of our many upcoming events, we can’t wait to spend the season with you.
The CSD offices will be closed on Friday, June 19th for the Juneteenth holiday.
As we head into summer, I’m excited to provide an update on activities at the Cameron Park Community Services District as we bring new and expanded community programming and services for residents of all ages.
The Community Center is ramping up for a very exciting summer with the opening of our new concession stand - the Rec Refresh - and a community Farmer’s Market on Friday mornings. With expanded pool hours, summer camps, and growing senior programming, the Community Center will be host to many opportunities for folks of all ages.
Our Recreation Department continues to grow in exciting ways. We’ve added new morning camps, expanded our popular Dungeons & Dragons program, and welcomed professional instructor Robert Garcia, who is now offering pickleball and youth tennis clinics.
Planning for the 25th Annual Summer Spectacular—celebrating both the event’s 25th year and our nation’s 250th anniversary—is well underway, with enhanced activities, expanded vendor participation, and entertainment already secured.
At Cameron Park Lake, visitation is rising with the warmer weather, and improvements are underway to support a safe and enjoyable experience for all. Visitors will notice that lake water quality treatments are back on schedule after the late season rains, and staff have placed updated fishing‑rule signage around the lake to remind and educate anglers of the rules. We are continuing to work on parking related items including a new QR‑code re‑entry program that has reduced gate assistance calls and delays in entering the lake and we are working closely with the County on traffic and parking solutions along Cambridge Road.
Our Parks and Facilities team has been hard at work addressing storm‑related tree damage and supporting major maintenance efforts across our parks and community center. The transition to contracted landscaping services is already helping redirect staff time toward high‑priority projects and safety improvements.
The Fire Department’s new Type III wildland engine is expected to arrive this month, with the goal of placing it into service by July 1. In addition to the new apparatus, wildfire mitigation also remains a top priority, with inspections underway, initial notices issued for unimproved lots, and parks and facilities staff continuing to maintain defensible space on District-owned properties.
Finally, I’m pleased to share that the District has received a clean audit for Fiscal Year 2024–25, with no findings and no material weaknesses identified. This reflects the dedication of our staff, the strength of our internal controls, and our ongoing commitment to transparency and responsible financial stewardship.
As we look ahead, I’m grateful for the hard work of our staff, the leadership of our Board, and the engagement of our community. Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected Cameron Park—one season, one program, and one project at a time.

Mechanical Weed Harvesting at Cameron Park Lake
Waterworks Aquatic Management is out at the lake this week with their HM‑420 and HM‑220 mechanical aquatic weed harvesters. These floating machines cut and remove overgrown surface vegetation—offering a chemical‑free alternative to managing nuisance weeds in lakes and ponds. Harvested plants are conveyed onto trailers for removal and can even be repurposed as nutrient‑rich organic material. Clearing topped‑out vegetation helps reduce algae, midge flies, mosquito larvae, and other insects that rely on surface growth. Waterworks will complete the majority of harvesting before the annual lake treatment, supporting a cleaner, healthier, and more enjoyable environment for wildlife and for everyone who loves the lake.
Disc Golf Course Maintenance
The Growlersburg Conservation Crew will be out at the Disc Golf Course clearing weeds and brush at the beginning of the month. These crews provide a very valuable service for the CSD and are able to clear the area within a short time. Expect the area to be cleared soon!
Gateway Park
The Growlersburg Conservation crew will move to Gateway Park after their work at the Disc Golf Course. Gateway Park is perfect for a relaxed walk or a picnic and these efforts will ensure that it is enjoyable and fire safe for our residents.
June is here!
It is a busy month in Cameron Park with the annual Cameron Park Spectacular right around the corner. You do not want to miss this premier Cameron Park event!
Recreational Trips:
June is a busy month for families that love activities. With these activities, we pull out our toys and shine them up for our fun field adventures. We just need to remember to store our recreational equipment and not have it out past our staging periods. Our CC&R officer reviews neighborhoods regularly to observe frontage compliance.
The CC&R officer looks for the following items:
· Trailered items - Boats, house trailers, cargo trailers, car trailers, dump trailers, etc. All trailered items are to be stored behind Cameron Park fenceline or off site.
· Trash and storable items - There should be no unsightly items in your frontage. This includes landscape materials, appliances, trash, and vehicles under repair.
· Unapproved ARC projects - Any projects found requiring ARC approval will receive a violation notice. ARC fees double when starting the project prior to receiving your Cameron Park ARC approval. Items that require an El Dorado County permit will be reported to the County.
*Note: Non-operational vehicles need to be stored in your garage or behind the fence line. Cameron Park does not manage abandoned vehicles. Vehicles without registration tags up to date may be turned into the CHP by your local neighbors.
Architectural Review (ARC):
If you are planning on exterior improvements, adjusting fence lines, or installing a structure like a shed, gazebo, or landscape, you need to apply for ARC approval. All exterior improvements or changes to your existing structures require this approval. If you complete a project without ARC approval, you may receive a complaint or violation to correct the project or get your approval at double the review fee. Both will be costly and could result in additional penalties. Applications for your new project are on our website.
ARC & CC&R Committee Volunteers: The Architectural Review Committee (ARC) and the Covenants Conditions and Restrictions Committee (CC&R) have one opening on each committee. If you would like to serve your community on a regular committee, please check out our website. The volunteer section will provide guidance on how to get involved and apply.
We wish you a safe and adventurous June!
Thank you to all our residents that practice diligence in keeping our community so special.
