Fall Season is here!
Fall brings beautiful colors, cool air, and crisp air to Cameron Park. The CSD brings many events during the fall, so please check out our activities offered by our recreation department.
Preparation:
In our last newsletter, we recommended cleaning roof gutters and your watersheds through your properties and along the streets at your property.
Please do not burn leaves or rubbish piles. These can be taken to the Recycle Drive or Robin Lane for disposal.
Ground fires are not allowed on Cameron Park lots under 1 acre except twice a year.
- The first 2 weeks of December.
- The first 2 weeks of April. These periods are only valid on a burn day.
For Burn Day information, please call – 530.621.5897. Please practice safe burning and do not burn until December 1st with burn day clearance.
For added compliance and safety, we recommend keeping your firewood stored off the house and off the fence lines. Wood piles should be protected from fire in fuel areas. The Cameron Park Fire Department can help with any additional questions or requirements.
If you use sump pumps under the house, we recommend completing maintenance on the pump before the rain comes.
- First, unplug the pump or turn off the circuit breaker.
- Remove the pump from the basin or bucket at soil level.
- Clean the pump, the basin, and the inlet screen.
- After all the dirt and mud are removed from the screen and basin, re-insert the pump to test the float. Do this by adding clean water to the basin until the float lifts.
- After everything is back in place and secure, plug the pump back in or turn the circuit back on. Your pump should turn on and siphon out the water.
- Check the discharge pipe to ensure that the pipe is clear and directs water away from your home’s foundation.
- If it does not, add a little more water until the pump float triggers the suction.
- If it does not turn on, check the float. If it still does not work, you may need a new sump pump.
Practicing this annually will help you keep peace of mind that the underside of your house is not taking in water while you’re away from home.
El Dorado Disposal is urging residents to properly dispose of batteries and battery-embedded items to prevent fire hazards. Batteries should never be placed in the trash or recycling; instead, tape the ends and place them in a designated battery bag. Disposal locations and hours are listed for Placerville, Cameron Park, and El Dorado Hills. Residents can also use the Waste Wizard tool or app to request battery bags and learn more about safe disposal practices.
