Our Foothill Rain Season Is Here.
In September, we reminded residents of their responsibilities to help with our water runoff.
This fall season had a large amount of leaf fall throughout the foothill region.
We would like to remind you that your efforts will go a long way in helping our storm run off reach the watersheds.
Please review the following and take a tour around your property to see if there is any additional drainage clean-up that can help you and your neighbors.
Watershed, Culverts, and Ditches:
Cameron Park needs its residents to help clear the way for stormwater runoff.
Our stormwater system is primarily an above-ground drainage system that relies on all landowners and residents to clear culverts, swales, and ditches on their property, which comprises the interconnected drainage system for stormwater.
Please clean all leaves and debris from entering your watershed. Each landowner has a responsibility to keep clear culverts, swales, and ditches on their property.
This includes your culvert pipe under your driveway entry and any watershed coming from a neighbor’s property.
Cameron Park CSD is not responsible for enforcement over one property owner’s watershed to another. This is a neighbor and homeowner’s responsibility.
Heavy Winds:
This season also brings heavy winds. Fallen tree limbs and debris can become a problem. Make sure you get your fallen limbs off the ground and into your yard waste. These can also stop up drainage to watersheds.
Secure all your tarped firewood piles, car covers, RV covers, easy-ups, patio umbrellas, etc.
Check your batteries on your flashlights, lanterns, headlamps, etc. Candles can also help. Power outages are not uncommon at this time of year. Keep these light sources ready for use.
Happy Holidays!
We want everyone to have a great Thanksgiving and Christmas season. Enjoy your family, events, activities, and celebrations.
Please drive safely out there and watch for flooding.
El Dorado Disposal is urging residents to properly dispose of batteries and battery-embedded items to prevent fire hazards. Batteries should never be placed in the trash or recycling; instead, tape the ends and place them in a designated battery bag. Disposal locations and hours are listed for Placerville, Cameron Park, and El Dorado Hills. Residents can also use the Waste Wizard tool or app to request battery bags and learn more about safe disposal practices.
