RecycleMandatory Waste Collection

The Cameron Park Community Services District area falls within a geographic area which established mandatory solid waste and recycling collection. El Dorado County, at the request of the Cameron Park Community Services District and a majority of voters within the Cameron Park Community Services District, approved certain amendments to an El Dorado County existing ordinance (Ordinance No. 4319 via resolution No. 018-99) establishing mandatory waste collection. The community believed this change would reduce roadside and private property littering, assist waste reduction (recycling) goals mandated by the State of California and preserve the overall quality of life in our community, all while providing the highest level of customer service at well below the state's average price.

Effective March 1, 1999, this ordinance amendment required each improved property to receive solid waste collection services on a regular basis in addition to requiring residents to bag green/garden waste for easy recovery.

The Cameron Park Community Services District's mandatory waste collection service includes:

  • One annual coupon mailed in May from El Dorado Disposal that can be used for large items such as appliances and furniture; a second item may be picked up at a reduced rate.
  • Unlimited waste pick up (if you have much more than your usual amount of waste, it is helpful to call El Dorado Disposal to let them know ahead of time).
  • One 96-gallon waste can is provided; however, a smaller can will be provided upon request. If you need more than one can, you can call El Dorado Disposal and request one.
  • Bagged yard waste pick up weighing no more than 50 pounds each.*
  • Curbside recycling container.*
  • Please contact El Dorado Disposal service for current rates.

There is a senior / low income discount available. The qualifications are that you be over 62 years of age and have an annual combined household income not to exceed $17,400.
