The Solid Waste Negotiation Committee and the Cameron Park Community Services District manages the relationship with waste companies on behalf of Cameron Park residents. The committee reviews proposals, negotiates contracts and oversees’ the general execution of the waste disposal service.

In 1962 the District was empowered to collect and dispose of residential and commercial garbage and refuse matter within District boundaries according to County Ordinance No. 4319 via resolution No. 018-99. In 2007 the Community Services District approved Ordinance 2007-02 establishing mandatory garbage service and providing rules and regulations governing the collection, handling and disposal of solid waste and other operating regulations. This ordinance is mandated in order to comply with the State of California’s landfill diversion mandate, AB939. Our current contract for waste and recycling is through a franchise agreement that expires in February 2018. Our responsibilities in this area are to:
- Monitor compliance with the ordinance and Franchise Agreement, Assist in resolving customer complaints,
- Coordinate and manage community events such as Community Clean-up Days and the Christmas Tree Chipping Program, and
- Monitor delinquent accounts, including assessing liens when necessary.
Our staff participates on the Solid Waste Advising Committee and assists with the preparation and review of the Source Reduction and Recycling Plan which must be submitted to the California Integrated Waste Management Board. The District submits Diversion Reports to El Dorado County quarterly documenting CSD compliance with AB 939. We promote continued recycling and source reduction within the district.
